SE The world has heard four albums of your seductive voice, and Chapter 5 brings some new Trey “Songz.” VMAN is a men’s fashion magazine that shines light on a new kind of man. How does Chapter 5 shine a new light on you?
TS As I’ve grown from a young man to a man, I think a lot of people have been able to see that progression [in the music], as far as my fans are concerned, as far as consumers are concerned, and just the general public. So I’ve gone from “Gotta Make It” to “Top of the World.” I’ve gone from “I Invented Sex” to “Sex Ain’t Better Than Love.” I think life is about growth and I think fashion, in a lot of ways, is about growth as well. I think the new album will reflect very much where I’m going as a person and what I’ve been through. Music, for me, is very much an expression of how I felt at the time when that song was made. And it’s almost been a year and a half since I put my last album out [2010’s Passion, Pain & Pleasure], so we’ll see how much I’ve grown and how much I’ve changed since that album’s dropped.

SE Last year you launched Angels with Heart (AWH), the foundation that you started to unite all of “Trey’s Angels.” You have a really big following, and if anyone’s been to one of your concerts you’ll see signs and shirts and all the ladies going crazy, and they’re all a part of Trey’s Angels. What was your motivation behind it, and what exactly does the foundation do for the community and the individuals whose lives you touch?
TS Angels with Heart is something that’s really dear to my heart. It’s basically for homes and communities like the one I came from, with a lot of single moms and a lot of children who’d have an amazing future ahead of them if only they had that, and only that, to focus on. I remember coming up in Virginia, and a lot of kids would get in trouble after school and get into situations they didn’t need to be in because they’d be home alone and they didn’t have places to go. I came from a situation where I got clothes from the Salvation Army and I was on welfare, so to be able to contribute to people who are in need, like how I needed and how my mother needed back then, it’s something that I’m truly blessed to be able to do. I eventually want Angels with Heart to have community centers where kids can go and study after school. We had a benefit concert in November, and dedicated a whole month to giving back. It’s something I’m very in love with.

SE There has been a lot of cyber bullying and a lot of hate toward young people, through the Internet, texting, and things of that nature. What message would you send to young people as far as bullying goes?
TS Bullying is childish, and a lot of kids get stuck in situations where obviously something is wrong at home, so it’s kind of a release for them. It’s a comfort blanket and it’s affecting so many people as well as themselves. It’s important to speak not only to the people being bullied but to the bullies as well. To the people out there who are being bullied, just stay strong. There’s only one you. I tell this to people all the time, to kids, to grown men, grown women: there’s only one you, and to think that being you is not enough is to say that God didn’t do his job, because He only made one you, and that alone should show you that you’re special.

Fouls lead to an Alex Caceres loss while Matt Brown is back on track at UFC 143

LAS VEGAS — Twice, Alex Caceres landed kicks to Edwin Figueroa’s groin that looked like he was attempting to nail 60-yard field goals. But they cost him an extra point and the decision in their bantamweight bout on Saturday at UFC 143.

Caceres landed his first kick early in the first round at Mandalay Bay, which sent Figueroa rolling across the mat in agony. Referee Herb Dean issued Caceres a “strong warning” after Figueroa signaled he was able to continue.

The rest of the first round was wild, as Figueroa connected with a head kick and nearly finished the fight, but Caceres rallied and went for several submission attempts late in the round.

Midway through the second, Caceres struck again. This time, Dean took the highly unusual step of docking the fighter two points for the infraction as the fight continued.

Figueroa won round three on all three cards. The scores were 28-27 across the board, two for Figueroa and one for Caceres. If there had been a standard one-point deduction, the bout would have been a majority draw, with two 28-28 cards and a 29-27 for Caceres.

“I felt like it was a hard earned paycheck,” said Figueroa. “He was a good fighter. I had to dig deep for this one.Â He came out and landed a few shots early.Â It was a tough fight but I came out the winner.”

The loss was the third in four fights for Caceres, the former “TUF” standout. Figueroa was won two straight.

“Immortal” Brown back on track.

Matt Brown may or may not be “Immortal,” as his nickname suggests, but he sure has managed to hang around in the UFC’s welterweight division.

Brown has grinded his way through 11 UFC fights since 2008, showing promise, but never quite building enough momentum to break through. But he’s hoping to turn the page in 2012 after scoring a knockout victory over Chris Cope at UFC 143 Saturday.

“That’s exactly what I need to be doing,” said Brown (13-11) “I got away from who I am.”

Brown controlled the action in round one against a tentative Cope (5-4), but never got an opening to do serious damage. That changed early in round two, when he feigned a left, followed with a big right hand that connected, then floored Cope with a left hook. He landed a few more shots on the ground before referee Kim Winslow stopped it at 1:19.

The win came as a relief to Brown, who had lost four of his previous five fights. “I’ve got a right hand to knock out anybody, I hope to see more of that.”

Fans might not know Pop and Oak by name, but they damn sure know their beats. Trey Songz's "Unusual," Big Sean and Kanye West's "Marvin & Chardonnay" and, of course, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a>'s 2010 single "Your Love" are just a few of the duo's hits.

Now <a href="/news/articles/1675194/grammy-nominations-2012-kanye-west-adele-bruno-mars.jhtml">they're up for a Grammy</a> thanks to their work on Nicki's Pink Friday, which is nominated in the Best Rap Album category.

Pop, a Philadelphia native, and his production partner, Oak, who hails from Istanbul, Turkey, have been working as a duo since 2008, back when they first produced "Your Love" for a then-emerging Minaj. " 'Your Love' was a song that didn't make Beam Me Up Scotty, the mixtape," Pop told Mixtape Daily.

Nicki was super-critical of her performance on the song, but after it eventually leaked at the top of 2010, there was no stopping it — well, there was one little obstacle to clear. The original leaked version featured a sample of Annie Lennox's 1995 version of "No More I Love You's," but after the U.K. singer wouldn't clear the sample, Pop and Oak had to come up with an alternative.

"They didn't let us clear the sample, so the version that leaked wasn't the version that got on the radio. We ended up re-creating it," Oak said.

The duo redid the sample a little too well, it seemed. Even after the switch-up, Lennox's lawyers continued to reach out, thinking Nicki's new version of "Your Love" still incorporated the sample. "They thought what they were hearing on the radio was still the master," Oak said.

"Annie Lennox thought she was hearing herself, which was fly as hell," Pop added.

UFC 143 video: With a muddled 170 picture, Pierce wants to bring some clarity

LAS VEGAS — Mike Pierce is a pretty reserved dude, but you can feel a quiet confidence coming from the welterweight prospect this week before UFC 143.

Pierce is trying to become the second straight fighter to knock off one the division’s traditional gatekeepers. Between Koscheck (16-5, 14-5 UFC) and his teammate Jon Fitch (lost to Johny Hendricks), it’s been pretty tough to crack the top three behind champion Georges St-Pierre.

“For a long time, those guys have been at the top. . they’ve had their chances fighting for the title ..josh kos jsut recently again fought Gsp for the title,” Pierce told Cagewriter. “And I think this is a great opportunity for me to take advantage of an opportunity and get a win and move myself up.”

Pierce didn’t say much on “Countdown to UFC 143,” but it definitely made an impression on Josh Koscheck. The veteran was irked by the fact that Pierce said Koscheck’s striking game was predictable and that he wouldn’t be able to use his heavy right-handed attack to score a knockout. Pierce says the fighters of today are versatile and unpredictable.

“Guys have been getting better and better at disciplines and figuring out a way to mesh them together to make a really good fighting style,” said the 30-year-old Pierce (13-4, 5-2 UFC). “We’re starting to see more of that now with the younger guys, who are coming up and they really get it. They know how to put these things together and they’re catching guys.”

Koscheck, a minus-245 favorite is confident that Pierce has little to threaten him. He’s basing that on Pierce’s 2009 fight against Fitch. Fitch controlled the pace of the fight to gain a decision, but was in big trouble in the final minutes of the fight after he ate big punch and finished the tilt on shaky legs.

Koscheck is holding a good crop of younger welterweight that includes Pierce, Jake Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald, Rick Story and Hendricks. Guys like Erick Silva, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and Douglas Lima could also be in the mix soon.

Save your tabs and Panorama tab groups in Firefox 4

When Firefox 4′s tab grouping tool, Panorama, had its keyboard shortcut changed to the finger-breaking combo of Ctrl+Shift+E, we thought Panorama would get dropped before FF4′s final release — but, thankfully, it made the cut!

If you’ve used Firefox 4 and Panorama, you might have noticed that Mozilla’s new browser doesn’t always save your tab groupings when you close the browser — a bit of a pain, if you spend a long time setting up the perfect groups! This is tied into the removal of the ‘Save and Quit’ dialog box — and enabling Panorama tab group saving is just a matter of re-enabling the Save and Quit dialog.

Open a new tab and head to about:config. Click through the warning and type ‘quit’ into the filter box. Double click browser.showQuitWarning to change its value to true (see image after the break). That’s it — now you’ll have the option of saving your tabs, and thus tab groups, when you close Firefox.

You can now rent Adobe Photoshop for $35 per month, CS 5.5 available soon

Rejoice! No longer will you have to fork over $700 for a Photoshop CS5 license! Adobe has unveiled a new subscription scheme where you can rent the entire Creative Suite, or individual packages, by the month, or for an entire year.

Adobe Photoshop can be yours for $35 per month if you agree to rent it for 12 months, or $49 per month if you require its services for a shorter period. Dreamweaver can be had for even cheaper, at just $19 per month. The entire Master Collection is still rather expensive, though, at $125 per month.

Today, Adobe also ushered in the release of Creative Suite 5.5, and simultaneously upped its release cycle from 18 months to 24 months. This means, if you rent Photoshop for two years, it’s actually the same cost as buying it outright. There’s no rent-to-own option, though — so you wouldn’t have access to the cheaper upgrade price once Creative Suite 6 rolls around next year. Still, if you need access to Photoshop, After Effects or Premiere for a one-time project, the new rental scheme could be exactly what you’re looking for.

In other news, Adobe has announced that it will be launching three rather exciting iPad apps that work in conjunction with Photoshop: Eazel, Nav, and Color Lava. Eazel lets you five-finger paint on your iPad, and export the result into Photoshop; Nav acts as some kind of workspace, brush and menu extension, and the hopefully named Color Lava is a paint mixing palette. The apps are expected to appear in the App Store in the next 30 days.

T.I. Says New Songs ‘Can Get Me In Trouble’

Trouble Man tracks ‘reminiscing on the days when I used to run wild and do my thing the way I used to do it,’ rapper tells MTV News.

Immediately following his <a href="/news/articles/1671754/ti-released-halfway-house.jhtml">release from prison</a> in September, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/t_i_/artist.jhtml">T.I.</a> got to work crafting his eighth solo album, Trouble Man, which he plans to debut early in 2012. During a recent stop in New York to promote his VH1 series, <a href="http://www.vh1.com/shows/ti_and_tiny_the_family_hustle/series.jhtml" target="_blank">"T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle,"</a> the Atlanta rapper and reality star told MTV News that he had 50 new songs recorded for the album in a matter of weeks.

"My life inspires my lyrics at all times, so at that moment in time, when I first came home, I have about 15 songs just totally focusing on that," T.I. said. "Out of those 15, I probably picked the two or three most significant, most compelling, impactful ones, and after I've been out for a minute, then I've got records totally focusing on speaking to people who can only focus on that and telling them I'm ready to move on."

The title of T.I.'s latest project is inspired by a 1972 <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2011/11/21/ti-album-title-trouble-man-inspired-by-marvin-gaye">Marvin Gaye song</a> of the same name, which Tip felt was an accurate description for the body of work. "The name of the album is Trouble Man, and every song on here is about things that can get me in trouble," he explained. "I'm reminiscing on the days when I used to run wild and do my thing the way I used to do it. I've got records that are just totally intellectually ignorant."

During his time behind bars, T.I. dropped his seventh album, No Mercy, and although it debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart, the Rubberband Man plans to top that effort without breaking a sweat. "I was able to release a project that did well considering the circumstances, but I wasn't able to put my all into it, which made it only a fraction of my usual contribution to the game," he said.

So far, T.I. has released three singles from Trouble Man: "I'm Flexin' " featuring Big K.R.I.T. was the first to debut, followed by "Here Ye, Here Ye" featuring Pharrell Williams and his latest, "Pyro."

This week I caught up with Kevin Windham. In the video below, Kevin Windham talks about the Superbowl Champions, the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, his family, his future plans for racing and beyond.

The Superbowl XLIV champions, the New Orleans Saints, have many fans – among them is none other than the number 14 in Supercross, Kevin Windham. While the NFL season started when Supercross was in its off season, Kevin was able to take part in season tickets to his favorite NFL team – da’ Saints. Eventually the 2010 Supercross season got underway in January, which meant Kevin was flying off after those Saturday night Main Events back East to watch the New Orleans Saints Playoff games.

On February 7, 2010 the New Orleans Saints headed to the Superbowl in Miami, Florida and Kevin Windham and his wife Dottie made arrangements to attend this momentous occasion. First, however Kevin had to finish up a Supercross race in San Diego the night before.

LAS VEGAS — Think Georges St-Pierre isn’t obsessed with Nick Diaz? Consider this: The UFC welterweight champion didn’t know who is playing in Sunday’s Super Bowl.

When the Montreal native was asked if he’d be rooting for the New England Patriots against the New York Giants during a media availability at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on Wednesday, St-Pierre replied “Are the Patriots playing? I don’t even know who’s in the [game]. I think New York is in it. New York is closer to Montreal, so I hope New York will win.”

One would think St-Pierre would have plenty of time to keep up with the rest of the sports world, since he’s been on the sidelines in Los Angeles, rehabbing from his December surgery to repair his torn left ACL.

But it’s clear he’s fixated on Diaz, the one fighter who has proven his ability to get under his skin.

“I can be a little, what do you call it? OCD. Obsessive-compulsive,” said St-Pierre.

Diaz, who fights Condit for the interim welterweight title in the main event of UFC 143 on Saturday night, is the current object of GSP’s self-described OCD. While St-Pierre has all the respect in the world for Condit, the champion is openly rooting for a rematch with St-Pierre, who he feels has openly disrespected him.

“I’m thinking about him right now, said St-Pierre. “I don’t try to think too much about him. I hope he wins the fight Saturday night. I hope he does, I pray he does. Maybe he won’t, but I hope he does.”

“I want Nick Diaz to win for two reasons,” said St-Pierre. “First, it is the fight everyone wants to see, he was the champion of Strikeforce and I was the champion of the UFC. What lights the fire in me is challenges. When I don’t have a challenge, I feel dead. Also, a lot of the things he has said, he has questioned me and my integrity. I have never cheated in my life. It is one thing when you something to promote the fight but it is another when you attack someone personally. It is what it is and that’s why I have my motivation to fight him.

St-Pierre said he won’t be able to train all-out until July, which makes November the earliest target date for an Octagon return when you factor in a full training camp if all goes well. His last fight was his April 30, 2011, win over Jake Shields, so a November return would mean a year and a half away from the cage.

But St-Pierre’s laser focus is aimed at Diaz, so the champ shook off questions of Octagon rust and dismissed the notion of taking a tune-up fight before facing Diaz.

“In mixed martial arts, there’s no such thing as a tune-up fight. There’s not guy out there who I can say, oh, I can take him. Who knows, that guy might kick my ass. There is no such thing as tune-up fights. In boxing, they can have optional title fights. I truly believe it’s ridiculous. You’re champion, you should fight the main guy.”

So GSP has made it clear Diaz is the man he wants to fight, preferably as soon as November.

“I want him to wait for me. I want him to go on vacation and relax a bit and wait for me, because I’ll be back soon.”

Just don’t ask him about the NBA Finals or the World Series between now and then.

Women’s AMA Motocross National Championship numbers for 2011 season

Beginning last season, MX Sports Pro Racing implemented a new numbering system for the Women’s AMA National Motocross championship. In years past, riders selected their numbers based on availability and order of selection was determined by where a rider finished in the standings the previous season. While the champion was designated to wear the number one plate, all other competitors were permitted to select any number that was available.

The 2010 campaign marked the debut of a new numbering system that determines a rider’s number by where she finished the previous season. As a result, one’s finishing position in the championship would serve as her number for the following season.

While Women’s MX Champion Jessica Patterson will enter 2011 with the #1 plate on her bike, jersey and helmet, below is a list of the remaining numbers for next season’s MotorcycleUSA Women’s Motocross Championship in accordance to each woman’s position in the final standings for 2010:

Spy Shots: Porsche Cayman shows off its interior

Porsche just unveiled the new generation Boxster which means the next to arrive will be the Cayman. From the looks of these spy shots, the sports car is just about ready, but this prototype has a few secrets to tell before its official debut.

These images of the future Cayman were shot in a city in Germany while the vehicle was testing, and not only reveal some of the exterior, but a first closeup of the interior as well. As expected, the interior will be very similar to that of the recently revealed Boxster, but it was covered up enough to hide the perks that we’re sure are there. Maybe we’ll even see the high-resolution 4.6-inch TFT color screen the Boxster just received to display its on-board computer, communication, audio settings, and navigation system.

As for the exterior changes, they will be minimal and will include an updated front fascia and new headlamps. What Porsche will really be focusing on is what’s found under the hood. The Cayman’s dimensions will grow and it will be offered with the same engine lineup as that of the Boxster: a 265 HP 2.7 liter engine for the base version and a 315 HP 3.4 liter engine for the S version. Both will be offered with either a manual six-speed gearbox as standard or a PDK available as an option.

UFC 143 video: Alex Cacares loves the big time, but misses the days of backyard brawling

LAS VEGAS — The crowds, money, adulation, safety precautions are all dynamite for 23-year-old Alex Cacares as he fights for the biggest mixed martial arts promotion in the world, but the Miami native misses the days of what appears to be a much more barbaric mode of fighting – the backyard brawl.

Those types of fights have been going down since the beginning of time. They recently became headliners again with the growth of YouTube and exposure for guys like Kimbo Slice in the Miami area.

As a hulking stack of muscle and intimidation, Slice fit the part. Cacares is slender and appears to be non-threatening, but when you hear him talk about his teenage experience with those pit fights you realize the kid loves to fight anywhere, anytime.

“I got into it because I was underage to get into professional fighting, “Cacares told Cagewriter just a few days before his 11 pro fight at UFC 143. “I was doing amateur fights at the time. I really wanted to get into a professional fighting, minimize the hand protection, no shin guards and really see what I could do.”

The UFC currently uses four ounce gloves which are tiny compared to boxing’s eight and 10 ounce models. Cacares still prefers the more primitive style of using bare-knuckles. “I believe bare knuckle hurts less than wearing these UFC gloves. I’ve been hit by bothÂ and I’d rather be hit by the bare knuckle,” Cacares said the gloves increase the surface area of the fist and seem to make the punches stick more. “The bare knuckle slides off more. When you get hit by the whole glove it gives you that little ringing sound.”

Cacares did his first backyard brawl at 17, making between $300 and $600 per fight. If he won, he’d get spiffed by the winning bettors. He’d take home as much as $800 on some nights.

“It’s a crazy experience. The crowd might not be as big as UFC crowd, but man they sound really loud because they’re literally two feet away from you and we’re fighting in a chicken cage. It’s kind of like a pit fight, a dog fight. But it was a good experience,” said Cacares.

He’s clearly fearless. There were no structured weight classes, no rounds, no time limits, no doctor to look at cuts and the fights went to the finish. You win when your opponent quits, can’t continue or you submit him.

Things are different now in many ways. Most importantly, Cacares is actually fighting guys his size. He fought on Season 12 of “The Ultimate Fighter” at 155 pounds, but he barely walks around above 150. Now he’s more comfortable down at 135 and can be a bully in the division.

Cacares was excellent in his UFC bantamweight debut against Cole Escovedo. On Saturday, Cacares (6-4, 1-2 UFC) takes a good step up against Edwin Figueroa. The shorter Figueroa is the only guy recently who’s given phenom Michael McDonald a fight, going the distance in losing a decision. The promotion is so high on MacDonald that he’s been throw in there with former bantamweight champ Miguel Torres in February. If Cacares takes out Figueroa, that’s a big notch on his belt.

GNOME 3 released, ushers in an interesting amalgam of iOS and OS X

GNOME 3, after more than two years of development, has been released into the wild. GNOME 3 is not merely the logical successor of GNOME 2: it is an entirely new project, started from scratch, to create a “completely new, modern desktop designed for today’s users and technologies.”

The best way to check out GNOME 3′s new features — and it has lots of new features — is to run a live version of openSUSE or Fedora, or simply head over to the GNOME 3 website and watch the (rather pretty) introductory videos. If you want a synopsis, though, here it is: GNOME 3 looks a lot like Mac OS X, with a healthy dollop of iOSesqueness for good measure, but yet it still somehow retains an underlying feel of Linux.

The overall aesthetic is very simple, very elegant, and despite being slightly out of fashion, there are plenty of rounded corners, too. The main addition, workflow-wise, is the addition of an app-launcher-cum-alt-tab screen, where you can launch apps, or flip through your open windows. For a complete list of the new features and changes, check the GNOME 3 release notes.

Despite GNOME 3 being officially launched, there aren’t actually any releases for existing, stable Linux distros — it’s the live CD/USB images, or Ubuntu users will have to wait for the launch of 11.04 for a GNOME 3 PPA, but it will break Unity in the process. Fedora users will have to wait for for the May 24 release of Fedora 15. Of course, if you’re feeling crazy, you can always build GNOME 3 from source.

Dana White blog captures controlled chaos of UFC on Fox 2

As is the norm, UFC president Dana White’s first video blog of the week focused on last week’s event. With UFC on Fox 2 airing on network television, the timing and control of this event had to be even tighter than usual. Amazon Cloud Player review: functional, not mind blowing, and still US-only

It’s hard to believe: our world-spanning network, our Internet, which is the cornerstone of free speech and free society — which, on a good day, is capable of causing populist revolutions – is still crippled by banal geolocation restrictions. We are, of course, talking about Amazon’s two latest offerings, both of which are only available in the United States. Last week it was the excellent Android Appstore for Android, and today it’s the Amazon Cloud Player for Web and Android.

Along with Cloud Player, Amazon also launched Cloud Drive, which is basically just like any other cloud storage digital locker. It’s not particularly feature rich, and there’s no real reason to use it over something like SugarSync or SkyDrive — it does work outside the US, however.

Its primary purpose, as far as we’re concerned, is that it stores your your Cloud Player music in a subdirectory. You get 5GB of Cloud Drive storage for free, and then it’s $1 per gigabyte per year if you need more space.

The Amazon Cloud Player itself will not, to put it bluntly, blow your mind. It works, but it’s very much an early, and possibly rushed, release. Let’s dive in to the Web and Android players for a closer look.

The Windows release of Kinect is coming up in a couple days, but for most people that won’t be a major event: the Kinect they have is sitting on their TV or in a drawer, waiting to be taken out for an impromptu Dance Central 2 party.
